Contest Schedule

  • Robo Soccer registrations will be open from Feb 1, 10 am to 4 pm at the Q'angle.
  • Robo Scooer event will start on Feb 2, 9am

Lead In

This is a two player fun game where one team's robot acts as a striker and the opposing team's acts as a goalkeeper. The striker has to score as many goals as possible dodging the goalkeeper within a specified time (5 minutes approx.).

During the first half of the game one team's robot acts as a striker and the other team's acts as a goalkeeper. During the second half, the two teams exchange positions. The team which scores the highest number of goals is the winner. The number of games played by each team will vary depending on the total number of teams participating.

Each participating team must have a goalkeeper and a striker. They may build a single robot which can act as goalkeeper and striker (or) two separate robots, one as goalkeeper and another as striker. The robots may be remote controlled by many players in the team (Each robot may be controlled by more than a single remote controlling device).

Robot Specifications

  • The robot should be packed within 20x20x30 cm cube (length x width x height). This is shown as the dark colored part of the robot in the picture.
  • Any runtime projections in the robot (including the robot) should be packed within 30x30x35 cm. This is shown as the light coloured part of the robot in the picture.
  • There is no constraint on the weight of the robot.
  • The robot should be completely battery operated without any external power supply and there is no constraint on the maximum DC power supply voltage.
  • Each robot may have more than one wireless remote controlling device and may be operated by more than one person in the team.
  • To avoid wireless command clashes between the two robots, each wireless command should be preceded by the robot's address and the robots should be designed with a possibility to change the address of the robot.

Prelimnary Tests

  • The robot will be checked for its specified dimensions.
  • Readymade toys and Robot kits will not be encouraged.

Game Arena

  • The game arena will be a plane solid surface.
  • The game area will be a 215x215 cm square.
  • The goal post will be in one corner of the square game area and it's planar dimensions are shown in the picture. The height of the goal post will be exactly 50 cm.
  • The Striker's line will be 30 cm from the goal post.
  • The goalkeeper's line will be 20 cm from the striker's line (i.e. 50 cm from the goal post).
  • The perimeter of the game arena will have fences to bounce the ball back into the game arena.
  • The initial position of the ball will be 65cm along the leading diagonal from the strikers end.

Ball Specifications

The robots have to dribble a ball of weight 26 GRAMS (ball badminton ball), diameter 5.5cm and strike it into the goal post to score a goal.

Rules

  • Each team is allowed to consist a maximum of 4 members with valid ID Cards from their respective institution.
  • Each game lasts for 10 minutes. Each team will act as a striker for 5 minutes and as a goal keeper for another 5 minutes.
  • Each time a goal is scored (including goals awarded for fouls) the stop clock is paused, the two robots are repositioned and the stop clock is resumed.
  • If at any point of time, the ball remains in the area between the goal post and the striker's line for more than 10 seconds, the robots and the ball will be repositioned.
  • The goal keeper is not allowed to cross the goal keeper's line and the striker is not allowed to cross the striker's line. In case of any team circumventing this rule, 30 seconds will be reduced from his striking time or the opponent team will be awarded 30 seconds of extra striking time, whichever is possible. Awarding extra time to the opponent team will be given preference over the other.
  • In case of any breakage or malfunction of the robot on the arena during the game period, the team will have to bear with the robot failure and will not be given a chance to repair their robots during the game period.
  • Any team that causes intentional damage to the opponent robot during the course of the game can be disqualified under the discretion of the judges. We are very sorry for the intentionally damaged robot and nothing will be done as compensation.
  • In case of tie, extra time will be given as a tie breaker.
