Dr. John C Mather, Astrophysics, Science Division - NASA

JohnJohn Cromwell Mather is an American astrophysicist, cosmologist and Nobel Prize laureate in Physics for his work on The Cosmic Background Explorer (COBE) with George Smoot. COBE was the first experiment to measure "... the black body form and anisotropy of the cosmic microwave background radiation."
Mather is a senior astrophysicist at the U.S. space agency's (NASA) Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland and adjunct professor of physics at the University of Maryland, College Park. In 2007, Mather was listed among Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People in The World.
